The Ridgeway is set up on a hill overlooking central campus. This puts it only a few minutes from most classrooms. The residents of the Ridge are very close to the Ridgeway Commons dining hall and just a few minutes walk from the Wade King Rec Center.

Alpha Hall houses both men and women in single, double and triple rooms entered from interior corridors. There are community bathrooms that serve the students of the same gender living on each floor.

All of Alpha is designated as alcohol-free, for students who make a commitment to refrain from using or supporting the use of alcohol while in residence. This type of environment gives students an opportunity to live with others who have made a similar commitment.

Alpha houses the SHADO community desk, and features 2 main lounges, one with a fireplace and foosball table and the other with a piano and TV.

Alpha is part of the larger SHADO community, which consists of Sigma, Highland, Alpha, Delta, and Omega.

Typical Student Rooms

Single and Double rooms

Furnishings:
Bunking/lofting beds, desks, and wardrobes.

Dimensions:
The average double room is approximately 176 square feet.

Flooring:
Vinyl tile.

Lighting:
Wardrobe and desk lights along with a standing lamp are provided in student rooms. Most students choose to bring additional lights for their rooms.

The Alpha main lounge has a fireplace and foosball table. There is also a separate lounge with a piano and TV.

SHADO Community Activities

Alpha is part of the larger SHADO community, which consists of Sigma, Highland, Alpha, Delta, and Omega.

Within each building, SHADO residents enjoy a close-knit community feeling as well as the opportunity to interact regularly with other halls in the area through programming, recreation, and involvement.

Residents are also able to participate in the active Community Council, which sponsors such events as trips to the local SportsPlex, a 'Festivus for the Rest of Us,' dances, and many other programs.
