New Year brings New Spin on Late Night Dining

January 19th, 2007 -- Western students living on campus are discovering new menu options this quarter during late night hours at Viking and Fairhaven Commons. The expanded selection is designed to provide something for everyone.

A New Spin on Late Night

Late night hours are held Monday through Thursday evenings at both locations, with Viking Commons open from 9:00 - 10:30 pm and Fairhaven Commons, 10:30 pm to midnight. Both dining halls offer a regular menu each evening and generally feature a nightly special.

At Viking Commons, warm chocolate chip cookies are a popular Tuesday night special; scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage, potatoes and French toast sticks are featured on Wednesdays; and sizzling hot appetizers are a new addition on Thursdays.

Besides these delectable nightly specials, Viking Commons' regular menu features pizza, deli sandwiches, burgers and fries (except on Wednesdays), a salad bar, cereal bar, toaster bar and assorted baked goods.

Fairhaven Commons has almost completely transformed its late night menu for 2007. A Southwest nacho bar or baked potato bar are offered on alternating Mondays, and Buffalo chicken or a Bavarian pretzel bar on Tuesdays. Students can wake up their palates with Wednesday night breakfast at Fairhaven Commons, and choose from an array of foods including a waffle bar, "Viking" muffins (breakfast sandwiches), scrambled eggs and potatoes. The Thursday night special is hot dogs or corn dogs with all the trimmings.

Fairhaven also has cheeseburgers, French fries, a Belgian waffle bar, fresh fruit selections and assorted yogurt each night, plus a deli bar on Mondays and Tuesdays.
