May 1, 2007 -- For a limited time, the Western Washington University community can enjoy a 12 oz. cup of coffee for just 59 cents when they also buy a wholesome Baker’s Breakfast Cookie.

The cookie and coffee special is being offered at multiple locations on the WWU campus, April 30 - May 11, including Viking Union Café and Market, the Underground Coffeehous, Miller Market, Tony's Coffee, The Atrium, Rock's Edge Café, The Haven, and BT Market.

Baker's Breakfast Cookies are locally-made, nutritious, fresh-baked, and free of cholesterol and trans fats. They come in a variety of flavors including double chocolate chunk, fruit and nut, peanut butter, mocha cappuccino, banana walnut, two vegan varieties, and many more. Flavors and quantities can vary by location and due to availability.

Facts about Locally Produced Baker's Breakfast Cookies

  1. The Baker's Breakfast Cookie (BBC) story began in 1994 in a 4H kitchen on Whidbey Island, when Erin Baker experimented with creating a healthy oatmeal cookie for people on-the-go.
  2. BBC moved to Bellingham in 1996 and added its first employee in 1997.
  3. In 2000, its third cookie variety, peanut butter, was added to the product line.
  4. BBC expanded its territory to multiple states across the nation in 2001.
  5. BBC was an official sponsor of the USA Triathlon Team in 2002 and 2003, serving samples to thousands of athletes and spectators.
  6. The company started its own triathlon team in 2003-2004 with athletes from all over the country, including local resident Kelly Molaski.
  7. This past winter BBC launched the "Fuel the Ride" program, providing free breakfast cookies and granola to 400 Komo Kids and 1,200 Winter Ride participants at Mt. Baker Ski Area.
  8. BBC's Healthy Start Foundation provides scholarships to young skiers. This winter it also hosted the last qualifying tournament before the Olympic games in Athens.
  9. This spring BBC introduced its new Organic Homestyle Granola and Organic Breakfast Cookie Minis.
  10. Dr. Andy Baldwin, currently appearing in ABC's "The Bachelor" is one of BBC's triathletes.
