Checking Out of Your Room

Checkout Checklist: Read for proper checkout procedures. Follow the checklist completely to help ensure that you are not charged improper checkout fees.
Roommate/Suitemate Release Form: Optional form if a roommate or suitemate is taking responsibility for any cleaning or damage charges so that they will not be equally shared.

UR Home: Status: If you plan on living on campus next fall we recommend you check your housing status. If it does not have the correct information including your chosen building/room, immediately contact the assignments office in Edens Hall 103.
Fall Move In: See for information including move in and early arrival information.
Off-Campus Website: If you are thinking about living off-campus this summer or next year, check out this site for plenty of useful information.

Expect heavy traffic near buildings throughout finals week. You may be required to wait for your desired loading zone.
Students are required to obey all posted parking codes and regulations, even during the move out process.
Loading zones are for temporary use only. Any unattended vehicle parked for more than 20 minutes in a loading zone will be subject to fines and/or vehicle impound.
When parking, make sure to allow for the departure/arrival of other vehicles to the area and make sure you are not blocking the immediate loading zone exit.
Student volunteers will be available in some areas to help facilitate the flow of traffic and the loading of vehicles. Please follow their direction in helping you move out.

Checkout material should be obtained from the information desk of your building/area. For more information or questions contact your Resident Advisor or Resident Director.
Contract Breakage Fee: Moving out before the end of the academic year while continuing to attend Western constitutes a breach of your housing agreement and you will be charged a contract breakage fee, as outlined in section 21 of the On-Campus Housing Agreement.
Birnam Wood Apartments: If you would like to try a different lifestyle and move into an apartment we suggest you try our Birnam Wood Apartments. The deposit you have on file will be transferred and best of all you won't break your contract.
Meal plans: Residence Hall meal plans are cancelled automatically, however you may sign up for an off campus meal plan at Edens Hall 103. If checking out of Birnam Wood and you have a meal plan you want to cancel, you must do so at Edens Hall 103 or by emailing assignments@wwu.edu with name and student number.
